Project 85 Dodge "OMNOM" GLH

Guess I'll start a project thread for this beast....

Picked this old race car up for a grand. Body is straight and solid. Mechanicals are all there but need some love. I'm not sure who built it originally (someone in Georgia?) but this car has surely seen better days.

The goal is to get it road legal and running smooth but not to lose that raw simplistic racecar feel. The final build will be a TII @ 18psi, a lightly modded suspension, and almost nothing for an interior.

Started by gutting the interior (or what was left of it) and rebuilding the harness. All worn and hacked connections were solder and rewrapped. All unused connections were removed.

The new and simplified interior harness fits like a glove.

I love the look of those cars... such a simple design but something about the shape resonates with me.

I like the idea behind this project. Once you're done, what are you going to do with it? Just drive it on the street or take it to the track?

It was an SCCA club race car. I am turning it back into a street car. I might hit some Auto-X, drag, and maybe an track day in NJ... but It's not going to be a dedicated race car.

I like how you're using a wrench set as a wheel chock

Yeah, the E-brake is fixed now. The Craftsman wrench set went back to being useless again.

Oh, and Peach0r... having this car ready by the meeting on Jan 15th is looking impossible. Money is too tight to afford the DOT paperwork AND a set of tires before then.

Three words.

Rocco's. Used. Tires.

they're on South 4th Street just north of my house, you can grab a set of four used tires in excellent condition, mounted & balanced, for a hundred bucks.

NO EXCUSES.
