For something like this, though, I imagine you'd rather have too much rather than too little, right? I mean, maybe 300W is enough now, but it's probably nice to have plenty of headroom in case you need to use it to power something big once in a while.

Absolutely. Plus the fact that I prefer have more power on tap then I need to use. I don't like to strain my electronics. That and the bigger inverters have better features. If/when I get the shell, I'll move this one to the back and put a small one in the cab 'just in case'.
